Running a magnifier on a flip to side mount is a great way to quickly switch between magnified and 1x optics without having to remove and stow a device. However, having a lump of metal and glass hanging out the side of your RIF can seriously throw off your aim and creates a snag hazard.

The FTC (flip to center) mount stows your magnifier below line of aim but keeps it within the footprint of your weapon's receiver, eliminating the snag hazard and doesn't throw you off balance.
